ABOUT

OUR STORY

I have been designing and making furniture for 40 years. My determination to be able to deliver to my clients, beautifully hand crafted, unique, personalised commissions, has lead me on a merry odyssey of learning. Design partnerships in Italy, Berlin and Spain have all added to my roots of British craftsmanship. Italy especially transformed my approach to designing and creating, in that every piece I design has to be able to break down into individual components, and these individual elements have to be a work of art in themselves. This approach, along with our specific natural oil finishes, results in the final piece of furniture, having a real life of its own. Tactile, sensual furniture’s that are beautifully hand crafted and guaranteed to be the design classics of future generations.

My experience’s have taught me not only a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship, a knowledge of modern techniques and methods but also the importance of really respecting the planet and its finite resources. Any project starts with the sourcing of top quality timbers from managed forestry suppliers, top quality naturally tanned leathers, fine natural fibre fabrics and specialist natural oils.

Over the years I have had the great pleasure of working with hugely talented artists, specialists in the complimentary craft skills that we often use in our designs. CNC cut or cast non ferrous metal, top quality acrylic work, tubular steel work and super skilled upholsterers.

This combination of our knowledge and skills together with the seasoned know-how of our network of highly skill professionals empowers us with the capability to conceive exceptional, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces that consistently transcend the expectations of my clients.

our processes

At our core, we draw inspiration from four Italian principles: 'energia', 'anima', 'interazione', and 'rispetto'. These concepts underpin our luxury furniture craftsmanship.

'Energia' fuels our creative process through observation and the right environment, allowing designs to naturally emerge.

'Anima' breathes life into our pieces via craftsmanship and meticulous finishing, giving each a distinct tactile character.

'Interazione' captures the synergy between nature's influence and human interaction, resulting in emotionally resonant furniture.

'Rispetto' drives our commitment to responsibly sourced, seasoned timbers, reflecting our deep respect for the planet.

These principles intertwine, shaping luxury furniture that's both artful and sustainable.

Environmental Impact

All our hardwoods, only North American or European timbers (No tropical or subtropical) are sourced from managed forestry suppliers. We are meticulously careful in the processing of the timber to choose the right piece of timber for the right component. We are brutally diligent in creating as little waste as possible. We are dealing with trees, beautiful trees, we respect them.

We only use natural oil finishes and our non-ferrous metal components our created by the best in the business. Our professional collaborations are with master craftsmen who take seriously Planet Earths finite resources, source their materials carefully and are attentive in recycling all their waste materials.

The creation of exclusive furniturE

Our furniture is truly handcrafted. We are not a highly mechanised workshop so the majority of our detailed work is done using hand tools and traditional craftsmanship. Our beautiful, sensual and tactile finishes are achieved through the careful and patient build up and cutting back of layers of natural oils. These natural oil finishes penetrate deep into the surface of the timber. They become integral to the make up of the timber and allow the wood to breath. They also provoke a natural and rapid oxidation of the timber resulting in beautiful rich colour tones. Considerably different to timber under sprayed and/or synthetic finishes. It is this handcrafted and hand finished timber that imbues our furniture with an energy and soul of its own.

Good work takes time

We follow a carefully and well thought out process in the creation of our furniture. The timber for each project is selected and processed well in advance of ‘start of works’. This gives our timbers time to settle and acclimatise to residential humidity levels and temperatures. Our fellow master craftsmen are notified and booked up well in advance. Good work takes time and planning and needs to avoid stress. This means that our lead times start at 17 weeks. 4 months minimum. It is not wise to hurry a creation. Especially when we want our creations to become a 22nd century classics.
